This is the last in this current series of Ordnance Survey Picture Calls. Good luck in your submissions, and May the 4th be with you. I'm disappointed that no one has been able to run for a bus for me (see Missing The Bus) but you lot probably don't do much running these days.

The Ordnance Survey, Britain's (and probably the world's) leading mapmakers, produce a range of maps for every conceivable usage. Most familiar to the general public will be the pink LANDRANGER series and the orange EXPLORER series. The maps are a familiar sight in every type of shop across Britain. The Landranger series are all purpose maps packed full of information to help people really to get to know an area. The 204 Landranger maps cover the country. Each map covers an area of 40 km by 40 km (25 miles by 25 miles) and like other Ordnance Survey maps, National Grid squares are provided so that any feature can be given a unique reference number.

The Ordnance Survey is trying to make their covers much more graphic and less chocolate boxy than they used to. A strong structured image with lines, a stunning landscape which could be sunset / sunrise, modern urban landscapes too. Just to make it more of a challenge for you the picture box is portrait format ...

We have been asked to provide the cover image for the new Landranger 202 map covering Plymouth & Launceston in south-west England. This is the previous image they used for this area:
