Asraq Castle was built in 1237 and is entirely built with Basalt Rock, as it is in the Volcanic area. It was built by the Romans and the Door is one solid piece of Rock and weighs 3 tonnes.

The statue of GEFION Fountain was built in 1908 by Anders Bundgaard. It is based on the "Folklore Legend" of the Goddess Gefion, who was promised "as much of Sweden as she could plough in one day". The story goes, that she changed her 4 sons into Oxen and carved out the island of Zealand.

At the very end of the harbour is the Town Hall and Square. This was built between 1892 and 1905 and is a mixture of Italian Renaissance and Medieval Danish Architecture. Above the main entrance is a gilded copper figure of Bishop Absalon, founder of the City.
Only 2 of the Palaces are used by the Royal Family now. The other Palace opposit is now a Museum and houses the Royal Collection. Guarded by Danish Royal Life Guards, a changing of the Guard ceremony takes place at 12 noon, every day, when ever Queen Margrethe 2 is in residence.
