Dunguaire Castle at Kinvara, Co Galway, built by the Hynes clan in 1520 c on the site of ancient 7th century stronghold of Guaire Aidhne the King of Connaught, site of many battles, became a meeting place of W.B.Yeats, Lady Gregory, George Bernard Shaw, Edward Martyn and J.M.Singe. Dunguaire means The Fort of Guaire.
