A little girl stands in front of The Maiwand Lion, a War Memorial in Reading's Forbury Gardens, is one of the world's largest cast iron statues, weighing 16 tons, and measuring 31 feet (9.5 metres) long. It was erected in 1886 to commemorate the deaths of 329 men from the 66th Berkshire Regiment during the campaign in Afghanistan between 1878 and 1880.

Irregular fenestration of casements with leaded lights. First floor of cross-wing jettied to end. Queen post roof truss to gable-end of cross-wing. Interior not inspected.
