This picture shows the Hilltop Dome, which sits near the top of the hill. As with the Evans Solar Facility, the roof of the building (with the doors in it) can rotate around to allow the telescope to see the Sun anywhere in the sky. This telescope is used for taking patrol images of the whole Sun. Such images are taken for discovering when something interesting is happening on the Sun, such as a solar flare, and to have a record of what the Sun looks like every day. One of the patrol tasks of the Hilltop Dome is to film the Sun all the time. This image is stored regularly for later study, and is also fed into the local TV system, so everybody who lives in Sunspot (the village that is Sacramento Peak Observatory) can see what the Sun looks like on his or her own TV set. This image is also on display on one of the monitors just inside the entrance to the Vacuum Tower. The Hilltop Dome was completed in 1963. It is not open to the public.

Infrared telescope. The Astrophysical Research Consortium infrared telescope at New Mexico, USA. This reflecting telescope uses a 3.5 metre diam- eter mirror to focus the signal, giving a sharper image than a lens. The detector picks up infrared radiation, which scatters less than visible light and extends the telescope's view. The telescope is operated almost exclusively by remote control, allowing different observers based across the USA to share the facility on any given night. It is located at Apache Point, on the summit of a mountain in southern New Mexico.

In operation from 1955 to 1985, the Daisy Decelerator (named after the Daisy Air Rifle) was an air-powered sled-track used to study the effects of acceleration, deceleration, and impact on the human body and various equipment systems. The Daisy Decelerator played a significant role in American history by supporting biological and mechanical research and testing for NASA's Mercury space flights and the Apollo moon landings. The Daisy Track was originally housed at Holloman Air Force Base and has now been restored by the New Mexico Museum of Space History through a "Save America's Treasures Grant." This outside exhibit displays the Daisy Track, with its Air Gun, a Waterbrake and four of the original sleds. The exhibit also includes a recreation of the structure that housed the Air Gun. Minor adaptations were made for security and exhibit viewing purposes. The Bopper sled is also featured in this display.

Grady 'Barney' Barnett was a witness of the 1947 UFO crash at Roswell. He testified he saw alien bodies. He and his wife Ruth lived here during the famous incident. 1947; The first witness on the scene was Grady L. "Barney" Barnett, a civil engineer with the US Soil Conservation Service who was on a military assignment at the time. He told some friends that in early July 1947 he had encountered a metallic, disk shaped "aircraft" about twenty-five or thirty feet in diameter. While he was examining it, a small group of people arrived who claimed to be part of an archaeological research team from the University of Pennsylvania. Barnett later told his friends, "I noticed that they were standing around looking at some dead bodies that had fallen to the ground. I think there were others in the machine, which was kind of a metallic...disk It was not all that big. It seemed to be made of a metal that looked like stainless steel. The machine had been split open by explosion or impact." "I tried to get close to see what the bodies were like. They were all dead as far as I could see and there were bodies inside and outside the vehicle. The ones outside had been tossed out by impact. They were like humans but they were not humans. The heads were round, the eyes were small, and they had no hair. The eyes were oddly spaced.
