Description
The pediment above the British Museum south entrance was designed by Sir Richard Westmacott. It follows the theme of the Progress of Civilization. Pediments were triangle-shaped and sat on top of buildings such as temples. They were decorated with sculptures and reliefs which reflected the purpose of the building.
