Gordon Castle lies just outside the town of Huntly in north east Scotland and, as the name suggests, was the seat of the Gordon family. A castle was first built on the site in the 12th century but the ruined structure seen today dates from the 16th century. Its decline began with the loss of the family fortunes in the 17th century,
