Castell Coch (English: Red Castle) is a 19th-century Gothic Revival castle built on the remains of a genuine 13th-century fortification. It is situated on a steep hillside high above the village of Tongwynlais, to the north of Cardiff in Wales, and is a Grade I listed building as of 28 January 1963. Designed by William Burges, with an impressively medieval appearance, working portcullis and drawbridge, and sumptuous interiors which rival those of Cardiff Castle, it has been described as "the most spectacular example of (that architect's) translation from High Gothic into High Victorian

Clytha Castle is a folly between Llanarth and Raglen in Monmouthshire. It is a beautiful memorial built in 1790 by a grieving William Jones of nearby Clytha House, in memory of his wife who had recently died.

Description
In Faringdon the town's landmark folly is a 140ft tower, which dominates a mound half a mile east of the town. The mound was known for centuries as Folly Hill despite being Folly less. Until Lord Berners in 1935 decided to rectify the problem. "The great point of this tower is that it will be entirely useless". He is supposed to have said. Architect friend, Lord Gerald Wellesley. Lord Berners went on holiday. On his return instead of the Gothic one-off he had envisaged was a more modest and sober looking tower. With just the top of the tower, still to be finished, Lord Berners insisted on Gothic flourishes. An octagonal room and mock battlements were added. Red brick folly arch on the road between Brookmans Park and Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. It was built in about 1740, and was originally one of the entrances to the Gobions estate.
