Description
The THREE SHIRES STONE, a faux neolithic cromlech, stands beside the Fosse Way near Colerne. The present 'megalithic folly' was erected in 1859 by local antiquarians, using stones from a neolithic chambered tomb near the site, to mark the meeting point of the three counties of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. ref: 1016154
