The broad glen of Strathmore is seen here in the view from North Ballo Hill, in the Sidlaw Hills north towards the Grampian Mountains. In the middle distance is the small town of Coupar Angus and beyond that, on the edge of Strathmore, is Blairgowrie
It is a warm afternoon in late summer and the photographer lies in the heather on top of Gask Hill, one of the Sidlaw Hills which lie between the Carse of Gowrie and Strathmore in Perthshire. From this position, the camera captures a view of the fertile valley of Strathmore through the grass and heather. Harebells add colour to the left foreground.

Near Gask, by one of the passes through the Sidlaw hills in Perthshire, Scotland, passing clouds dapple fields on the flank of Gask Hill. Trees are scattered along the field boundaries while a herd of cattle, temporarily satisfied by the rich green grass, rest in the warm midday sunshine
It is a cold January day in Strathmore and, from a viewpoint near Alyth, the camera looks southwards over the broad valley of Strathmore. Fields are grey with frost, two farms sit in the middle distance while the Sidlaw Hills, which mark the southern boundary of the strath are almost invisible as their snow cover is barely distinguishable from the milky sky.
