Figure of Eight on the Bight. Easy to tie , will stay tied even with a fairly stiff rope.Not easy to adjust and can be difficult to untie after loading.
Bowline,Easy to adjust; should always be finished with a stopper knot. can work loose; Used for tying on to the end of a rope and around large anchors.
Prusik Knot, Easy to tie, can slip on icy or wet ropes. Used for ascending ropes in a self rescue situation, like James bond! With downward pressure the Knot jams, but remove the weight it frees itself and can be pushed up the rope.
Overhand Knot on the bight, Easy to Tie, does not come undone. This Knot is not easy to adjust and is very difficult to untie after being loaded. A poor alternattive to the Figure of eight
