This image was taken from the top of Bossington Hill on Exmoor. It looks down on Porlock Bay with it's shingle ridge tht protects the marshland beyond, although on this occasion high tides and storms have caused the sea to breach the ridge. In the foreground are flowering heather and gorse, whilst beyond the bay is the settlement of Porlock Weir. Rising behind is the bulk of Culbone Hill.

Description
Compass Point storm tower: built in 1840 of local sandstone by the Acland family,moved to present position in 1880. The points of the compass are carved into its 8 faces, and are slightly out of true since the 1880 move. It is a copy of the Tower of the Winds in Athens and was at some time a coasguardlookout post. It is also known as The Pepperpot.
