In Lerwick, Shetland, it never gets dark in midsummer. It is a time for festivals and Foys throughout the island group which comprise the most northerly lands in Great Britain. Lerwick is as near to Norway as it is to Scotland and the Scandinavian influence is strong. Squads of guisers or Vikings march in the parade, each squad in a uniform designed and made by the squad each year.
