Damdin Sukhbaatar, born 1893, was appointed commander-in-Chief if the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army in 1921 which defeated the Chinese and then the White Russians. He was dead from unknown cause by the age of 30.
In 1220 Chinggis Khan decided to move his capital from the Onon Valley in Khentii to Karakorum. Building began after his death by his son Ogedai Khan. It served as capital for only 40 years when Kublai Khan moved to Khanbalik, in what is now Beijing.
