Fishermen's Cottages at Birling Gap, Sussex, UK; These fisherman cottages were built in 1876 but coastal erosion of the soft chalk cliffs (71cm a year) has led to the gradual demolition of the houses as they become threatened with collapse. Since this photo was taken the 2 houses nearest the sea have been demolished.
