Vintage portrait photo circa 1910s of Belgian international lawyer and statesman Henri La Fontaine (1854 - 1943) - winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1913. La Fontaine wrote extensively on the subject of international law and was a long-serving Belgian senator as well as being President of the International Peace Bureau from 1907 to 1943. He was an influential figure in the Bureau's efforts to bring about The Hague peace conferences of 1899 and 1907 and was also a member of the Belgian delegation to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 and to the League of Nations Assembly of 1920 - 1921.
