Description
Assault ship HMS Bulwark in March 2011, Greenwich, London. This ship is to deliver the punch of the Royal Marines by sea and air with boats stored in the landing dock in the belly of the ship and with a helicopters from the flight deck. 176 meters long, it can carry 31 large trucks and 36 smaller vehicles such as Land Rover along with armoured vehicle such as a battle tank. Along with sister ship HMS Albion, warship Bulwark is the flagship of the Royal Navy.
MEDITERRANEAN SEA Aboard the USS Barry -- 19 March 2011 -- The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG 52) launches a Tomahawk missile in support of Operation Odyssey Dawn. This was one of approximately 110 cruise missiles fired from US and British ships and submarines that targeted about 20 radar and anti-aircraft sites along Libya?s Mediterranean coast. Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn is the U.S. Africa Command task force established to provide operational and tactical command and control of U.S. military forces supporting the international response to the unrest in Libya and enforcement of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1973.
