The newer parts of Monte Carlo are built on steep hillside above the famous harbour. In this photograph an electric multiple unit of the French national railway heads away from the camera on a track following the contours of the land. It will shortly enter a tunnel as it continues its journey to Ventimiglia on the Italian border.

Description
Passengers await an eastbound train at Portslade Station in West Sussex. Such trains run either to Brighton or London and the provision of a class 377 electric multiple unit on the arriving train suggests the latter.
A small diesel multiple unit forms a local train to Ipswich crossing the River Stour near Manningtree, parts of which can be seen in the background. At this point the Stour forms the boundary between the counties of Suffolk and Essex, so the train probably has wheels in both.
