Description
The tower was built by William Swayne completed in 1516, the wooden gates have traditional linen-fold panels. The carving is of the coat of arms of the Foundress, Lady Margaret Beaufort, The strange animals acting as supporters are called Yales, mythical animals which have antelopes' bodies, goats' heads and elephants' tails. Above the Yales is a statue of St. John the Evangelist.
