The Gothic Temple and the Crystal Grotto are two of the many follies built in Painshill Park, Cobham, Surrey, in the 18th century. In this photo they are viewed from in front of the Turkish Tent, another folly. Both have been renovated in recent years.

Built in 1750 by the local MP, architect and local Squire, Humphrey Sturt, who may have used it as an astronomical observatory. Now a ruin though it contains modern telecommunications aerials. A four-arched, conical-towered stone structure installed in the 18th century garden development of Bourne Hill House, in Salisbury. Now called Wyndham House it formerly housed Salisbury's Council offices.The garden is an attractive public park. Some have suggested the building may have originated in the Cathedral Close.

Eighteenth century Folly Lodge in Redgrave Park, Suffolk, near Diss, Norfolk. Now known as the Dove House, the folly is shown on an 1830s Ordnance Survey map as the Dog Kennel.
Luttrells Tower was built in the 1780`s by Thomas Sandby. It has three storeys and a cellar. From the cellar there is a tunnel that leads on to the beach.
