Bristol Temple Meads Station the main entrance to the station built in the 1870s between the terminal and through platforms. The tower was topped by a spire until World War II
In 1845 the Bristol and Exeter Railway station built its own station at right angles to the GWR station and an "express platform" and a grand headquarters was built at street level on the west side of its station in 1852-54 to the Jacobean designs of Samuel Fripp.
Time, Bristol, Temple Meads, passengers, waiting, rushing, trains, transport, platform, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Brunel, Sir Matthew Digby Wyatt, GWR, Hammerbeam roof, Victorian, IPSV1381
Description
The name of the station derives from the nearby Temple Church, which was built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century, The original terminal station was built for the Great Western Railway (GWR) and was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the engineer of the GWR, and Sir Matthew Digby Wyatt. The 72 ft (22 m) wide train shed has a wooden box-frame roof and cast-iron columns disguised as hammerbeams above Tudor arches, believed to be the widest Hammerbeam roof in England. The station also included a more utilitarian engine shed, and is fronted by an office building in the Tudor style. It is the oldest railway terminus in the world, and is regarded as one of the best Victorian station buildings

Description
Pero's Bridge is a pedestrian, bascule bridge at St Augustine's Reach in Bristol Harbour. It links Queen Square and Millennium Square, it is composed of three spans; the two outer ones are fixed and the central section can be raised to provide a navigation channel in the harbour. The most distinctive features of the bridge are the pair of horn-shaped sculptures which act as counterweights for the lifting section, leading it to be commonly known as the Horned Bridge.
