Portrait print circa 1890s of Mary I of Scotland, also known as Mary Queen of Scots. Mary (1542 - 1587) was just six days old when she inherited the Scottish throne on the death of her father King James V. She was forced to abdicate the throne in 1567 after an uprising and fled to England where she was imprisoned in 1568 by her Protestant cousin Queen Elizabeth I.
