A massive gantry crane unloading a container ship at Felixstowe Port, Suffolk. The size of the cranes make make the large containers - the eleven in the picture make one for each of eleven 40 ton trucks - look like Dinky Toys. There are 29 ship-to shore gantry cranes like this one, including some of the tallest in the world. The depth of the main channel is 14.5 metres and 15m alongside the 2.3 km continuous quay allowing loading and unloading the world’s largest container ships. The port is owned by Hutchison Port Holdings Ltd (HPH. Much of the land is owned by Trinity College, Cambridge. Felixstowe in the largest container port in the UK, handling over a third of all container traffic. The ship is the Cosco Glory.
