It is now five mini roundabouts around the original one, and known to some as the Magic Roundabout. The five tower blocks in the background on the right are the original living accommodation for students. They still exist, now along with many more two and three storey blocks of flats spread around the area.

A12 Traffic jam, Colchester, mid 60s. The A12 Colchester bypass, Cymbeline Way, is seen as it was in until the A12 Colchester Northern Bypass opened in the 1970s. At the time of this picture, the road was three lane, with overtaking both ways down the middle lane. It is now two lanes with hatching down the middle, meaning no legal overtaking. The road is now designated A133 and this stretch is still known as Cymbeline Way. Close to where this picture was taken from is now a roundabout leading from the A133 to the A12 northern bypass, to the A1124 London Road, Lexden, and through the narrow Spring Lane to the B1508 at Braiswick on the northern outskirts of Colchester.

These small three-wheeled taxis are powered by Compressed Natural Gas engines and are zero carbon emission vehicles. Such taxis move hundreds of thousands of people around the city each day.
