This image was taken from the top of Bossington Hill on Exmoor. It looks down on Porlock Bay with it's shingle ridge tht protects the marshland beyond, although on this occasion high tides and storms have caused the sea to breach the ridge. In the foreground are flowering heather and gorse, whilst beyond the bay is the settlement of Porlock Weir. Rising behind is the bulk of Culbone Hill.

Porlock Vale is a valley that lies between the North Hill / Bossington Hill ridge and the range of hills surrounding Dunkery Hill. At it's inland end it is wide and shallow, while at the coastal end it is narrower a more steeply sided. It meets the coast a Porlock Bay - one of the few accessible areas of coastline on the Exmoor coast.
This image was taken from Bossington Hill and shows flowering heather and gorse in the foreground. In the middle distance are the woods of Allerford Plantation with a glimpse of Porlock Bay and the Vale of Porlock beyond. On the skyline are Crawter Hill and Porlock Common.
