Description
St. Vincent, deacon of Saragossa, was tortured in Valencia during the persecution of Diocletian in 304. His worship spread across the Church rapidly and was considered one of the main representative saints of Spain. Towards 1104, the Bishop of Valencia went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and carried with him the left arm mummified of St. Vincent. As this ecclesiastic died suddenly in Bari (Italy), the relic was left there and was being passed on up to being in possession of Mr. Pietro Zampieri from Vigonovo (Venice). In 1970 he gave it to the Cathedral together with the bronze reliquary made in a Venecian style.

Description
At the west end, that mighty clear window lording it over the narrow street. The tower, once you take Scott's spire out of the equation, is curiously small, its Early English tracery out of kilter with the rest of the building. There are echoes of Cley, and for the same reason; the tower is a survival of a much earlier, smaller building. And yet, as at Cley, there doesn't seem to have been any intention to rebuild it before the Reformation intervened. By the 15th century, the clear rational light that a vast window could provide seems to have been a higher priority than the height of a tower to proclaim the glory of God.
