A common blue damselfly (Enallagma cyathigerium) on an Opium poppy leaf (Papaver somniferum - "Danebrog lace" ("Danish flag") after a rain shower. Taken in our Lincolnshire garden in 2008.

The Blue-tailed damselfly, Ischnura elegans, adult male has a head and thorax patterned with blue and black. They have a largely black abdomen with very narrow pale markings where each segment joins the next except segment eight is entirely pale blue.
