A TRADITIONAL BRIDGE COULD NOT BE USED DUE TO LOW MUD BANKS AND A FEERY WAS NOT POSSIBLE DUE TO LOW TIDES. THOUGH MODERN BRIDGES HAVE NOW REPLACED THE OLD BRIDGE, IT IS STILL IN USE AND POPULAR WITH VISITORS.

The Tamar Bridge is located above the Hamoaze, and runs parallel to Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge (sometimes referred to as the Brunel Bridge) which opened in 1859 and is considered to be one of his greatest railway achievements. Both bridges offer wonderful views of the Tamar Valley and Tamar Estuary. The Tamar, Lynher and Tavy Valleys form one of England's thirty-seven Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Wilford Suspension Bridge, built by the Nottingham water corporation in 1906, primarily to carry water to Wilford reservoir, although today it also acts as a major pedestrian foot way, linking the city side of the River Trent, to the suburbs of Wilford and West Bridgeford.
