Porlock Vale is a valley that lies between the North Hill / Bossington Hill ridge and the range of hills surrounding Dunkery Hill. At it's inland end it is wide and shallow, while at the coastal end it is narrower a more steeply sided. It meets the coast a Porlock Bay - one of the few accessible areas of coastline on the Exmoor coast.

This image was taken from Bossington Hill and shows flowering heather and gorse in the foreground. In the middle distance are the woods of Allerford Plantation and beyond them the Vale of Porlock. On the skyline are Whitstone Post and Porlock Common.

A frosty winter's morning coated the pine trees in Horner Woods with a layer of frost. A fisheye lens was used to distort the perspective and bend the tree trunks in a symetrical fashion

This tree is one of many that flank the path runing down the valley beside Horner Water. Early morning and low autumn sunshine meant that very little light penetrated to the woodland floor. Where it did it created strong contrast of light and shade.

Robber's Bridge is a famous ancient packhorse bridge that spans the river Weir in the Weir Valley, Exmoor. It is reached by a narrow and winding road that decends steeply into the valley. This image was taken on a sunny autumn afternoon from the woodland adjacent to the road and bridge.
