UK SCOTLAND Edinburgh -- 13 Jan 2011 -- A member of the public reads information about the three early Vermeer paintings on show in the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland UK. Three paintings are on show and pictured here are ones painted when the artist was around 25 years old and are some of the 40 or so known Vermeers and offer a tantalising glimpse into the artist's little known early career, depicting both classical and biblical subject matter and another more everyday scene showing the darker side of Dutch life in "The Procuress". The two paintings pictured here are on the left the "Diana and her Nymphs" and on the right the biblical scene of "Christ in the House of Martha". The three works by the old Dutch master are on show in Edinburgh until the 13th March 2011 -- Picture by Jonathan Mitchell | Lightroom Photos
