St Mary's Lighthouse St Mary's Island, Whitley Bay. St Mary's Lighthouse and the adjoining keepers' cottages are situated on a small island which is accessible at low tide. It was built in 1898 and was closed down in 1984. It has now been converted into a small museum and visitor centre.
