CUBA Guantanamo Bay -- c.2002 -- Detainee hospital ward, Camp Delta, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The Guantanamo Bay facility has been widely criticised by lawyers and human rights groups, as many detainees were simply bought from dubious Afghan warlords and it is thought many of the inmates have little to do with Al Queda. Despite this, many were tortured by US forces upon their detention, seemingly on orders from George W Bush himself (or at least his office). Very few "terrorists" have since been convicted with any solid evidence and almost 200 people have died in US detention facilities like this - most of them innocent men. Description
Vintage prison photo of the American outlaw Butch Cassidy (1866 - c1908). Cassidy, real name Robert LeRoy Parker, was a notorious train and bank robber and a leader of the Wild Bunch Gang. Cassidy and his partner the Sundance Kid fled from the USA to South America in 1901 after robbing banks and trains throughout the American west and were apparently shot dead by Bolivian authorities in 1908. Some believe, however, that the pair escaped and returned to the United States. Photo taken circa 1893 at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Laramie, Wyoming.
