PICTURES OF CADAIR IDRIS BY GRAHAM COLEMAN: Cadair Idris or 'Chair of Idris', the range of mountains occupying the Southern tip of the Snowdonia National Park, are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful high land regions in Britain. Legend has it that the 'chair' shape formed on the flanks of Pen y Gadair Fawr was the throne of Idris the Welsh Giant. Other tales predict that He whole spends a night on Pen Y Gadair will return a Genius or Madman! Mountains are only one Geological features evident in this area of outstanding natural beauty, with the Mawddach and Dovey estuaries running along the north and south flanks and the coast of Cardigan bay on the west, The landscape is varied. From wild woods of oak and hazel with babbling brooks and waterfalls to mountain tops and deep blue pools to the sand dunes and beaches on the coast. The scenery between Dolgellau and Machenchynlleth is a photographers dream.

This road leads to Raglan in Monmouthshire, South Wales,from there you can drive or cycle to Abergavenny and on to the Brecon Beacons and Black mountains.
NEPAL Solu Khumbu -- Dec 2005 -- Working to lessen the effects of global-warming induced floods which now affect the Sherpas in the village of Phakding. Here some of them examine ways to remove a large boulder from the riverbed of a tributary of the Dudh Khosi River. By removing the boulder they hope to avoid future flood events harming the village, some 10 metres above this riverbed.
