Description
This 1940 London Transport AEC RT Bus is seen at a bus rally in full wartime livery with regulation blackout lighting and white front wing markings. The engine in 'wartime' RTs of which RT113 is an example, was the AEC A185 9.6 litre diesel and the 56-seat bodies were built by the London Passenger Transport Board at Chiswick Works.

Description
A line-up of AEC Routemasters seen at a Bus Rally in 2009. Nearest the camera is RM5 (nominal date: 1959) wearing the standard London Transport Central bus livery of the '60s. The AEC Routemaster double-decker bus of London Transport was a highly regarded and iconic part of the London street scene for more than forty years, and is now an equally loved and familiar presence at Heritage Vehicle rallies and shows. Of advanced integral construction, the 'RM' had separate front and rear mechanical units which were mounted under a rigidly built 'monocoque' body. During overhaul these units would be switched several times between different vehicles and so it is difficult to randomly date a Routemaster exactly, (with a handful of exceptions) beyond the period in which that particular model was being built, ie:in this case (RM5) 1959-65 for the standard 27.5ft model. Most RMs were powered by the AEC AV590 9.6 litre diesel, with around a fifth powered by the Leyland 0.600 9.8 litre, and a smaller number powered by the AEC AV690 11.3 litre engine.

This former Guernsey open-top AEC RT Bus was seen at the Cobham Bus Museum event at Wisley in 2009. It started life as a red London Transport double-decker - RT2494, in 1950 with a body by Weymann, and was latterly exported to Guernsey where it was converted to open-top and used on tourist services.

Description
A familiar sight at Heritage vehicle rallies is RCL2233, a former Green-Line/London Country Routemaster coach. The RCL was a 30ft version of the standard Central red Routemaster bus with a much higher level of interior trim and seating. With different gearing, and 11.3 litre AEC AV690 engines they were used on very long inter-London routes, affording travellers a very high standard of comfort.

Description
An Aldershot and District Dennis Loline Mark 3 double-decker, built in 1964 with a 68-seat Weymann body and Gardner engine, seen in contrast to a London Transport AEC RT. Due to the 1960s demand for low-height double-deckers with a central upper-deck gangway, (instead of the highly impractical side-gangway of the traditional lowbridge design) the Dennis Company of Guildford acquired a licence from Bristol Commercial Vehicles, to build the Bristol Lodekka. This resulted in the Dennis Loline, which was available on the open market, and with a range of engines and bodies by different manufacturers, whereas the nationalised Bristol company could only supply the state owned British Transport Commission companies.
