Puffins, Fratercula arctica (the Atlantic puffin) on the point of take-off. The featured puffin has caught some sand eels and landed on the cliff top for a few seconds before heading on to its nesting burrow.
Puffin describes any of three auk species (or alcids) in the bird genus Fratercula with a brightly colored beak in the breeding season. These are pelagic seabirds that feed primarily by diving.
