A Blisworth lady in Northamptonshire keeps chickens on her allotment and there is a man in the village that takes about 50 battery hens a year from a local farm to a she says "Give them a better quality of life", but when the chickens come to him they don't have as many feathers as free range chickens so she got together with the Blisworth WI to see what they could do. She found a knitting pattern for a "Chicken Jumper" on the web, gave this to the WI and now the members are hard at it knitting tiny jumpers so that the chickens can keep warm during this cold spell.
