Wave action contributes to erosion of the cliffs causing slippage, the last major of which was during the winter of 2001. Beachy Head, as beautiful as it is, is also a notorious suicide spot.

Situated six miles North East of Oban on the West Coast of Scotland, the Falls of Lora are generated when the tide level in the Firth of Lorn drops below the level of the water in Loch Etive. On the ebb tide, the seawater in Loch Etive pours out through the narrows which are themselves spanned by the spectacular and historic Connel Bridge. Diving the Falls at ebb tide makes for an exhiliarating dive for SCUBA divers. The currents and waves produced by the flood tide are also well worth seeing and paddling. Digital scan of a 35mm transparency.

When no more sea salt can be extracted the water is drained off and the sea salt left to dry in the sun before it is collected.

Description
The Azure Window, near Dwerja Bay, is a 50 metre high rock arch in the Dwejra Point cliffs. The sea has worn a hole through a narrow headland forming "the window" called it-Tieqa in Maltese. The arch has become unstable over time.
Connel Bridge is a cantilever bridge that spans Loch Etive at Connel in Scotland. The bridge takes the A828 road across the narrowest part of the loch, at the Falls of Lora. The bridge has a span of 500 feet (150 m), at an elevation of 50 feet (15 m) above the water level. The approach viaducts on each side of the bridge both comprise three masonry arches. The boatman, or boat cover, is watching for his divers who should surface downstream beyond the Falls of Lora. Digital scan of a 35mm transparency.

The ladders cannot be bolted to the cliff face because the force of the waves would still tear them away. The ladders are used by divers to exit the water after a dive, snorkelers, snorkellers and swimmers.

The Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary is the last remaining mangrove woodland left in Barbados. It is a resting place for migratory birds traveling the Caribbean flyway between North and South America. The swamp was originally a marsh and mangrove ecosystem connected to the sea as well as to the St. Lawrence swamp and surrounding wetlands. The water is very dark in colour.
