A significant road bridge carrying the A9 trunk road across the narrow strait between the Moray and Beauly Firths, a cable-stayed bridge, it links Inverness with North Kessock on the Black Isle. It was modelled on a bridge over the River Rhine near Dusseldorf and has a span of 1052m (1150 yards). Work began in 1976 and the bridge was opened in 1982.
