Description
Finished in 1438, this tomb was part of the madrasa that Gauhar built, alongside a Frida mosque. She was the wife of the ruling sultan, Shah Rukh, and politically powerful in her own right. Qavam al-Din was the architect.

Built be the architect Qavm al-Din in 1418 and commissioned by Gawhar Shad, the wife of the Timurid sultan Shah Rukh. Mashhad is the pilrimage town of the shrine of the Shi'i imam Riza, adjacent to the mosque.

Description
The buildings around the Shrine mostl date from teh 15th century and later. The mosque with the big dome on the right is that of Gawhar Shad, finished in1418, the madrasas with the two turquoise domes on the left is the Do dar madrasa, built by the vizier Yusuf Khvaja in 1439. The gold dome above the tomb of Imam Riza, the eighth Shi'i imam, dates from the Safavid period. It is still a major centre of pilgrimage.

Istanbul. On the southeast side of the Hagia Sophia stand three domed mausoleums of sultans. Right is the Mausoleum of Murat III, who was buried here in 1599. He had sired 103 children by the time he died. Left is the Mausoleum of Selim II, designed by the architect Sinan and completed in 1577. The interior is entirely covered in Iznik tiles. The Blue Mosque can be seen between the domes.

Description
The Islamic Cultural Center of New York is a mosque and Islamic cultural center in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, United States. It is located at 1711 Third Avenue, between East 96th and 97th Streets. The Islamic Cultural Center was the first mosque built in New York City. Construction of the mosque was begun on May 28, 1987, the day which represented the end of Ramadan. The cornerstone of the minaret was laid on September 26, 1988. Construction was delayed during the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait and the First Gulf War. The mosque opened on April 15, 1991, for the feast of Eid ul-Fitr. The architects were Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
