Description
Barmouth Bridge, which takes the Cambrian Line over the River Mawddach, was also formerly at the end of the GWR Ruabon Barmouth line, which passed through Bala and Dolgellau. The southern end of the bridge is now the start of the Mawddach Trail, a cycle path and walk way that utilises the old trackbed.

Devil's Bridge (Pontarfynach), Redigion is situated high in the foothills of the Pumlumon mountain range twelve miles east of Aberystwyth. The River Rheidol is joined by the River Mynach, plunging 400 foot / 122m down the Mynach Falls. The village's most famous feature is probably the unique arrangement of its three bridges - which are built one on top of the other, across the River Mynach. There is a story that the first bridge was built by the Devil to enable an old woman to cross to rescue her cow. In reality, it is likely that the Abbott of the Cistercian Strata Florida Abbey had the first bridge built so that the monks could reach the sheep pastures to the north. The latest bridge was built by the County Council during the 20th century.

Description
Constructed by Robert Stephenson, son of "Rocket" creator, George Stephenson. Begun in 1846, the bridge was opened on 5 March 1850. For its time, it was a bridge of "magnitude and singular novelty", far surpassing in length contemporary cast beam or plate girder iron bridges. One aspect of its method of construction was also novel; the box sections were assembled on-shore, then floated out into position before being lifted into place. During the evening of 23 May 1970 the bridge was greatly damaged when boys playing on the bridge dropped a burning torch, starting a fire (see Britannia Bridge Official Fire Report, BBC News video). As a consequence the bridge was completely rebuilt and reopened in 1972 with the spans supported by archways. The deck has two levels: the lower still carries the rail line, and the upper supports a single-carriageway section of the A55 road. The new bridge was designed by Husband & Co., now part of Mott MacDonald
