NEW NEWPORT FOOTBRIDGE. NEWPORT GWENT WALES, NEWPORT HAS SEVERAL BRIDGES. THIS THE NEW FOOTBRIDGE. NEWPORT ALSO HAS THE FAMOUS TRANSPORTER BRIDGE. THE BRIDGE WAS BUILT IN 1906 AND CARRIES VEHICLES AND PEOPLE ON A GONDOLA SUSPENDED BENEATH THE BRIDGE. A TRADITIONAL BRIDGE COULD NOT BE USED DUE TO LOW MUD BANKS AND A FEERY WAS NOT POSSIBLE DUE TO LOW TIDES. THOUGH MODERN BRIDGES HAVE NOW REPLACED THE OLD BRIDGE, IT IS STILL IN USE AND POPULAR WITH VISITORS.
