Description
The Tamar Bridge is located above the Hamoaze, and runs parallel to Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge (sometimes referred to as the Brunel Bridge) which opened in 1859 and is considered to be one of his greatest railway achievements. Both bridges offer wonderful views of the Tamar Valley and Tamar Estuary. The Tamar, Lynher and Tavy Valleys form one of England's thirty-seven Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Clifton Suspension Bridge, spanning the Avon Gorge, is the symbol of the city of Bristol. For almost 150 years this Grade I listed structure has attracted visitors from all over the world. Its story began in 1754 with the dream of a Bristol wine merchant who left a legacy to build a bridge over the Gorge. The first competition in 1829 was judged by Thomas Telford, the leading civil engineer of the day. Telford rejected all the designs and submitted his own but the decision to declare him the winner was unpopular and a second competition was held in 1830. 24 year old Isambard Kingdom Brunel was eventually declared the winner and appointed project engineer – his first major commission. The foundation stone was laid in 1831 but the project was dogged with political and financial difficulties and by 1843, with only the towers completed, the project was abandoned. Brunel died prematurely aged 53 yrs in 1859 but the Bridge was completed as his memorial and finally opened in 1864. Designed in the early 19th century for light horse drawn traffic it still meets the demands of 21st century commuter traffic with 11-12, 000 motor vehicles crossing it every day.

The three bridges, three bridges, Devil's Bridge, stacked bridges, River Mynach, Pontarfynach, Wales, UK, Blue sky, white clouds, green foliage, folklore, Devil, The Devil, bridge over the Mynach river
Description
This quiet village twelve miles outside Aberystwyth is famous for its waterfalls and three stacked bridges. The three bridges over the River Mynach at Devil's Bridge. In Welsh, the village is known as Pontarfynach - 'The bridge over the Mynach river'. The three bridges are quite a spectacular sight being stacked on top of each other. According to legend, the lowest bridge was built by the Devil himself to let a local woman rescue her cow which had somehow got to the other side of the gorge. Expecting the woman to walk across to get it, his one condition was that he received the soul of the first living creature to cross the bridge. However, he was tricked by the lady who got her pet dog to run across first - thus leaving the Devil with a soul of a dog! More conventional wisdom says that it's in fact an 11th Century bridge built by the monks of Strata Florida.

Description
BRIDGE AND TRAFFIC AT night NEWPORT GWENT WALES, NEWPORT HAS SEVERAL BRIDGES. THIS IS NEW ROAD BRIDGE. NEWPORT ALSO HAS THE FAMOUS TRANSPORTER BRIDGE. THE BRIDGE WAS BUILT IN 1906 AND CARRIES VEHICLES AND PEOPLE ON A GONDOLA SUSPENDED BENEATH THE BRIDGE. A TRADITIONAL BRIDGE COULD NOT BE USED DUE TO LOW MUD BANKS AND A FEERY WAS NOT POSSIBLE DUE TO LOW TIDES. THOUGH MODERN BRIDGES HAVE NOW REPLACED THE OLD BRIDGE, IT IS STILL IN USE AND POPULAR WITH VISITORS.
